My Ramblings On
My 2011 fantasy football team.
First of all, I love my team. We play in a pretty competitive league, so getting a lot of talent (with decent backups/insurance) is never a small feat. I will go ahead and list my team, then explain some of the picks:
- QB Peyton Manning, Donovan McNabb (Last Round Nostalgia Pick)
- WR Greg Jennings, Marques Colston, Percy Harvin, Johnny Knox
- RB LeSean McCoy, Maurice Jones-Drew, Cedric Benson, Pierre Thomas, LaDainian Tomlinson, Ronnie Brown
- TE Kellen Winslow, Jr.
- DEF Pittsburgh Steelers
- K David Akers
First of all, I got Peyton in the 5th round, which is a steal (if he plays the majority of the season). As my insurance, I picked up Donovan McNabb in the last round. I don't think there is anything wrong with paying homage to my teams old quarterback (especially when the alternative was Jason Campbell).
My wide receivers are probably my thinnest area. I usually put a lot of emphasis on receivers, but I couldn't pass up some of the RB talent that was available to me this year. If my receivers stay healthy, the four of them should be fine.
This is probably the best group of RB's I have had in this league (5 years now). I plan on starting McCoy, MJD, and Benson on day one. If McCoy goes down, I have his backup (who, by the way, is pretty good). If Pierre Thomas wins the starting job in NO (which isn't that likely, but was worth a shot), I have another contributor. Lastly, LT - I picked him up in the 12th round. I just couldn't help but feel weird picking LT in the 12th and McNabb in the 15th - we must be getting old!
My TE is good, with a lot of potential, and a good young quarterback. He has proven to be a loose cannon, unfortunately, so I could find myself looking to replace him at some point.
That's all for now, but I'm ready for one thing: football.
